FIA F3 2016 World Cup Macau: Everything you need to know

Maximilian Günther is set to line up for the first time in the legendary Macau Grand Prix, China (17th – 20th November 2016). The race will be run this year for the 63rd time on the Guia street circuit where the world’s 29 best Formula 3 drivers will compete for the FIA F3 World Championship. Maximilian will race for SJM Theodore Racing by Prema, who have already won the Macau GP eight times, once in 1983 with Ayrton Senna.

The track: Circuito da Guia
The Guia circuit is the defining feature of the Macau Grand Prix, offering a heady mix of challenging corners, altitude changes and high-speed sectors. Unpredictable conditions test the highest skill levels and best car set-ups, as the circuit’s patent yellow-black barriers loom high and offer little run-off.

The team: SJM Theodore Racing by Prema
Theodore Racing is a former Formula 1™ team, founded in 1976 by the late Teddy Yip Snr. The team attracted future Formula 1™ world champions such as Alan Jones, Keke Rosberg, Ayrton Senna and Mika Hakkinen. Theodore Racing made a successful return to racing in 2013 under Yip’s Son, Teddy Jnr, scoring a record seventh victory at the 60th Macau Grand Prix with Red Bull junior driver Alex Lynn. The team’s return to Macau also coincided with the 30th anniversary of Ayrton Senna’s victory for Theodore Racing in the inaugural Macau Formula 3 race. As well as competing in Formula 1™, Theodore Racing competed in a variety of other motor racing championships including Formula 2, Formula 5000 and IndyCar. In Macau, Theodore Racing works together with Prema Powerteam, with whom Maximilian Günther secured the vice-championship in FIA Formula 3 this season.
