Maxi Günther gets intensive Formula 3 initiation

A dream comes true

Key steps on the way to a promising future in motor racing – Maximilian Günther tested a Formula 3 racing car for the first time in recent weeks. Guided by his trusted team, Mücke Motorsport, the 17-year-old got his first drive in the 240-bhp Formula 3 car used in the FIA Formula 3 European championship during testing in Barcelona and Valencia.

Maximilian: “My first laps in a Formula 3 car were quite special. I got on well straightaway despite there being some differences to Formel ADAC. An F3 car is something else, especially where acceleration, braking and g-forces are concerned. Driving was amazingly good fun and like a dream come true.”

An intensive programme was lined up for the overall winner of the Deutsche Post Speed Academy´s top award in 2014. He completed a total of six test sessions at the two Spanish racetracks over a period of ten days. In addition to gaining valuable experience, Maximilian notched up around 3,000 kilometres in testing. Maxi: “I gradually raised my game even during the very first day and posted decent lap times. I think I was competitive from day one.”

After two days of testing in Barcelona, Maximilian then headed off to Valencia without much of a break and completed four test runs at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo. “My level of performance was pretty good by the end of the test sessions. There are still some details that I need to work on in order to improve even further,” said the Formel ADAC championship runner-up. “My understanding of how to drive the car on the limit just keeps on improving. At any rate, I feel I´m ready for next season.”
