Maxi quickest driver for Mücke Motorsport

Positive conclusion after testing in Valencia

Maximilian Günther is ready for his debut season in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. The 17-year-old made an excellent impression at the official tests in Valencia. He set the fourth fastest time of the day from a total of 34 starters at the opener on Tuesday 17th March. Günther covered the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in a personal best time of 1: 25.236 minutes. He was both the fastest driver in his team, Mücke Motorsport, and also the best-placed driver running a Mercedes-Benz 414 F3 engine.

“It was a great day, especially as we were able to try out a lot of things and we worked really well,” said Maximilian after the first two days of testing at Valencia. “We´ve gained some important insights, and I feel increasingly at ease in the car. We´re moving forwards step by step, while staying focusing on ourselves at the same time.”

The young talents were faced with difficult weather conditions on Wednesday. Maxi proved his skill in the wet and was again the best-placed driver for Mücke Motorsport that morning. The fastest lap times were achieved during the afternoon in dry conditions. Maximilian posted the seventh best time of 1: 31.099 minutes, securing the fastest lap time of any driver powered by Mercedes.

Maxi summed up the two intensive days of testing at the Spanish track as follows: “I´m very satisfied with my first official test drives in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. My times were quite decent, but most of all, we were able to complete our scheduled programme. The guys from Mücke Motorsport have worked hard and have given me a great car. We need to continue in the same vein. There´s still a lot to do before the start of the season.”

During the two days of testing at the track outside Valencia, Maximilian covered a total of 187 laps, which equates to 748.935 km. The top student at the Deutsche Post Speed Academy in 2014 will have another chance to prepare for his debut in the top-notch series for juniors during the second round of official testing at Silverstone on April 7th. The 2015 season then gets under way a few days later at the historic British racetrack on April 10th.
