Ready to take on FIA Formula E Season 12 after Successful Valencia Test.
In the build-up to Season 12 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Maximilian took to the track with his other 19 competitors to get a first flavour of the improved Gen3Evo machines ahead of the first round. Over the four days of testing, Max completed 277 laps, with the fastest time of 1:21.979.
It was a comprehensive test for the DS Penske team, trialling new strategy features to tackle new sporting regulations around the Pit Boost and Attack Mode challenges, which this season will see a reduction of one Attack Mode deployment in races containing a Pit Boost pit stop.
Despite the Gen3Evo being in its second year of running, there was still plenty to learn that DS PENSKE put into practice over the season break, with lots of understandings and data analysis that Max and the team will now study as they prepare for the season to get underway.
Season 12 kicks off in December with the first round taking place in São Paulo on the 6th of December. In the remaining weeks before racing commences, Max will return to the simulator with the DS PENSKE team to put into practice the knowledge gained from Valencia in order to be in the best position possible for the season opener in Brazil.
“Four days of testing at Valencia was a great way of getting back into the groove for the season ahead.” Max said after the completion of the test. “You learn so much at these tests even if the car is now three seasons old. But of course, the Gen3Evo is only going in to its second season and the Hankook tyres also, which means there are still lots of interesting things to explore.
“It was very good and productive week for. We nicely got through our program, experienced our car’s response to several changes and dialled us in for the season ahead.
“This season will be the most competitive yet, and with some new races like Miami, Jarama and Sanya, I think it is going to be incredibly exciting.”
Max will begin his seventh straight full Formula E season next month and will look to increase his impressive results that include seven wins, four pole positions and 12 podium appearances.
