Maximilian Günther joins DS PENSKE for Season 11

Formula E’s youngest race winner, Maximilian Günther, to drive for DS PENSKE in Season 11

German racing driver, Maximilian Günther, will be joining DS PENSKE from the 2024/25 FIA Formula E World Championship campaign onwards.

The Franco-American outfit is one of only a handful of teams which have competed in Formula E since the fully electric category’s inaugural 2014/15 season and has grown to emerge as a true powerhouse of the championship over recent seasons.

Max, from Oberstdorf, has a long-standing connection to the DS PENSKE organisation after beginning his Formula E career with the team in 2018, serving as the outfit’s Test & Reserve driver throughout Season 4 before stepping up to a full-time race seat for Season 5, claiming two top five finishes.

Since then, Max has become one of Formula E’s top drivers and has gained a well-rounded experience by racing for brands including BMW-Andretti, Nissan, and most recently, Maserati, while holding youth, experience, and success in equal measure with five wins and 10 podiums in 83 starts at the age of only 27.

In only his 13th race start, Max made history by becoming Formula E’s youngest race winner at the age of 22 and went on to make history once again in 2023 by securing the Maserati brand’s first victory in World Championship single-seater motorsport since Juan Manuel Fangio in 1957.

With DS PENKSE, Max will represent one of the most successful manufacturers in Formula E, with DS Performance holding 16 victories, 37 podiums, and four World Championship titles since joining the series in 2015.

Max will make his public debut in DS PENSKE’s iconic black and gold livery at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain, for Pre-Season testing on 4-7 November 2024 before the season-opening São Paulo E-Prix on 7 December 2024.

Maximilian Günther, Maserati MSG Racing Driver

“I’m very happy to be joining DS PENSKE. A powerhouse in the championship and a project with strong vision. We share the same ambitions and are all driven to be at the top of Formula E. Representing DS Performance, a manufacturer which has won several championships already is a real privilege. Same for being teammate with a champion like Jean-Eric Vergne, it’s something I really look forward to. A very special element for me is to drive for Jay’s team again, he brought me into the championship when I was 20 years old. I’m proud to be part of the team and excited of what we will build together in the future.”
